Dr Hema Kannappan
Dr Kannappan graduated in India and spent 8 years in the East Midlands doing paediatric rotations and now working as a consultant paediatrician with a special interest in gastroenterology.
In her NHS consultant post, she looks after children with a very wide range of general and more specialised paediatric problems.
She has significant expertise in caring for infants and children with cow’s milk allergy, feeding problems, reflux, failure to thrive, abdominal pain, bowel issues, headache, asthma as well as a wide range of other paediatric conditions
Dr Kannappan utilises a wide range of diagnostic modalities including blood tests, stool and urine samples and ultrasound scans, in addition to clinical history and examination to recognise the child’s illness early on to manage conditions effectively.
She is a member of BSPGHAN (British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition) and a fellow of RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health ) as well as being a working group member for eosinophilic oesophagitis as part of the national network society.
