Professor Arumugam Moorthy

Professor Moorthy is a Consultant Rheumatologist working at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust as a Consultant since 2009. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at Leicester Medical School, University of Leicester. Professor Moorthy qualified as a doctor in 1989 and has more than 19 years of clinical experience in Rheumatology specialising in conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis, low back pain, Ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, connective tissue disease, and vasculitis.

As well as his private practice in the Rheumatology service at The Health Suite. Prof Moorthy currently sees more than 50 patients per week in the NHS. He is holistic in his patient management working collaboratively with allied health professionals including physiotherapists where required. He has also established close links with Obstetricians and runs a Multi-Disciplinary Team for individuals suffering from spondyloarthritis during pregnancy.

He cares about the patient journey and has been instrumental in setting up the patient support group NASS, Leicester Branch and is keen to educate and promote the awareness of Inflammatory back pain in the community and organises regular public awareness meetings.
