At The Health Suite, we offer Pilates classes to strengthen the core and support wellbeing

Pilates was developed in the early 20th century and is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the core muscles of the body.

This simultaneously supports general fitness and wellbeing.

Pilates is conventionally felt to help individuals to recover from back pain effectively. The principles of Pilates in coordination with your breathing helps to develop extra strength and power in the muscles, improvements in posture, flexibility and balance.

We love Pilates at The Health Suite because it is based on the breath, on whole-body health and encompasses mind, body and spirit.

Our Pilates Instructor Marina Katsika is highly passionate due to her own past experience of suffering from Sciatica, so has first-hand experience of how debilitating this can be and the road to recovery. She also recalls that when she first started Pilates she went from size 10 to 8 without losing a kilo as an added benefit of the low impact exercise.

Joseph Pilates, after whom the fitness system is named, used to say:

"in 10 lessons you feel the difference
in 20 lessons you see the difference
in 30 lessons you have a new body."

At The Health Suite, we offer a few different options for Pilates classes. You can choose between a 1:1 pilates session (which will last 1 hour) or book onto our six-week, small-group Pilates Course in our wellness studio.

We also offer Reformer Pilates.

“Above all, learn how to breathe correctly.”
