Paediatric Osteopathy

Osteopathy for babies and children, at The Health Suite

Paediatric Osteopathy v2-min

Paediatric Osteopathy is a holistic approach to issues that may arise during birth or in the following weeks of a baby’s life.

Trauma or medical intervention can cause a baby to be unsettled during the early days. This usually sorts itself out. However, in some cases, the transition from womb to world isn’t so easy and your baby may need some help to settle.

This is where paediatric or cranial osteopathy comes in. The slightest imbalance in a child or a baby’s body can cause long-term issues if left uncorrected.

Our Paediatric Osteopath is specially trained to use the gentlest of touches to correct these imbalances.

Osteopathy for babies and children is a specialist form of treatment that uses a variety of techniques. All the techniques are very gentle and not painful in the slightest.

On your initial visit, the Osteopath will take a detailed case history. She will then ask for your baby or child to be undressed in order to carry out a thorough examination, similar to a paediatrician check. Once the Osteopath has identified the cause and diagnosis, she will have a discussion with you about the best treatment.

You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. As a parent or guardian, it is important you understand the process and the benefits of treatment.

Paediatric Osteopathy can be used for the following:

  • General baby check
  • Unsettled baby
  • Feeding problems
  • Reflux
  • Traumatic birth
  • Torticollis (twisted neck)
  • Constipation
  • Recurrent respiratory infections
  • Plagiocephaly (misshapen head)
  • Sticky eye
  • Early stages of craniosynostosis (early fusion of the skull bones)
  • Autism
  • Developmental delay
  • Gait disorder
  • Ear infections

If you are unsure if paediatric osteopathy is right for your child, send us a message and our Paediatric Osteopath will be happy to advise.
