
Dr Anbezhil Subbarayan
Dr Anbezhil Subbarayan is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist with over 15 years of specialist expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of endocrine disorders and obesity in children and young people up to the age of 18.
Currently based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Dr Subbarayan leads the Paediatric Obesity Service across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, and Northamptonshire. His practice is dedicated to delivering holistic, evidence-based care to support young patients in achieving better health outcomes. Dr Subbarayan received his specialist training in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and the internationally renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
His clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of paediatric endocrine conditions, including:
- Obesity in children and adolescents
- Growth disorders – short stature and tall stature
- Thyroid conditions – hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism
- Pubertal issues – early or delayed puberty
- Pituitary disorders – including hypopituitarism and diabetes insipidus
- Adrenal disorders – such as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Cushing’s syndrome
- Diabetes – Type 1, Type 2, and MODY
- Calcium and bone metabolism disorders – including severe Vitamin D deficiency and hypoparathyroidism
He is also an active contributor to academic research and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of paediatric endocrinology. Currently involved in a multi-centre research study on medication in the treatment of Obesity in Children and Young people.
