How ALEX² Works
1. Pre-Assessment Requirement
Before booking ALEX² directly for a child, an initial paediatric allergy consultation at The Health Suite is required. This ensures:
- Testing is clinically appropriate
- The correct panel is selected
- Alternative or complementary tests (such as skin prick testing) are not more suitable
2. Blood Sample Collection
A simple blood test is performed by our clinical team.
3. Laboratory Analysis
Your sample is processed using ALEX² microarray technology, examining allergen extracts and molecular components.
4. Comprehensive Report
Your clinician receives:
- Total IgE
- Specific IgE
- Extract-level data
- Component-level data
- Cross-reactive patterns
- Interpretation notes from the laboratory
5. Optional Follow-Up Consultation
If you would like support in understanding the results or developing a management plan, a follow-up consultation can be arranged separately.

ALEX² Molecular Allergy Test
Included in the ALEX² Molecular Allergy Test
– Includes phlebotomy and laboratory processing
– Does NOT include a consultation or interpretation appointment
If booking directly (without previous allergy care at The Health Suite), a paediatric allergy consultation is required before test approval in patients under 18.
-
Food Sensitivity Tests
Food sensitivity tests identify foods that may trigger bloating, fatigue, skin or digestive symptoms, helping you tailor your diet for better health.
-
Paediatric Allergy Service
Paediatric allergy testing and same-day plans to find your child’s triggers and give clear advice for care and management.
-
Allergy and Intolerance Test
Allergy and intolerance testing uses blood tests to find foods and other triggers behind symptoms, so you can get personalised advice and care.
-
ISAC Molecular Allergy Test
ISAC molecular allergy testing analyses specific IgE antibodies to multiple allergen components in one blood sample, helping tailor personalised allergy care.
Common Q&A about ALEX² Molecular Allergy Blood Testing
Our FAQ section is designed to address common questions you may have, from how our treatments work to what you can expect during and after your session.
Our team is always available to provide additional support if you need more personalised guidance, ensuring that you feel informed and confident every step of the way.
Yes, if booking directly for a child. An initial paediatric allergy consultation ensures the test is clinically appropriate.
No. ALEX² complements skin prick testing by providing molecular detail that helps clarify complex reactions.
No. Interpretation requires a clinician and can be booked separately.
Typically 2–3 weeks.
No. Antihistamines do not interfere with ALEX² results.
It identifies allergen components linked to higher-risk patterns, which helps with risk assessment, but does not predict exact reaction severity.
Yes, provided a clinician confirms it is appropriate during the pre-assessment.
Yes. It includes a very broad range of both.
Adults may not require a paediatric consultation, but a clinical review is still needed to ensure suitability.
No. It only tests IgE-mediated allergies.
Symptom checker
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please book an appointment with us. Symptoms can vary from person to person and from condition to condition.A proper diagnosis can only be made through a thorough medical examination.
Our clinicians will carry out a full assessment to ensure an accurate diagnosis and appropriate care.
Do you have persistent allergy symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, or runny nose?
These may be signs of environmental allergies. ALEX² testing helps identify specific triggers across a wide panel of allergens using a single blood sample.
Are skin rashes, hives, or eczema flares linked to certain exposures?
Complex or chronic skin reactions can be driven by multiple allergens. ALEX² provides detailed insight into specific IgE sensitivities to guide personalised management.
Do you experience digestive symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea after eating?
Food‑related allergic reactions can be difficult to pinpoint. This advanced molecular blood test screens many food allergens and cross‑reactive proteins at once.
Does breathing worsen with seasonal or pet exposure?
Symptoms such as wheezing, coughing or shortness of breath can be linked to allergic sensitisation. ALEX² maps key respiratory allergens in one test.
Have you had unclear or mixed allergy test results in the past?
Standard tests may miss cross‑reactive or molecular allergy patterns. ALEX² expands sensitivity detection and improves allergen identification.
Are symptoms affecting daily life, school, or activity levels?
Ongoing allergic symptoms can impact quality of life. Detailed molecular allergy profiling helps personalise avoidance strategies and treatments.
