Yes. Paediatric osteopathy uses extremely gentle, light-touch techniques suitable for newborn bodies. No forceful manipulation is ever used.
Your baby can be assessed from birth onward. Many families choose to book within the first few weeks, but we support babies up to 3 months old.
Our osteopath will assess your baby gently through touch and observation. If you book a combined appointment, a postnatal check will also be performed for the mother. Treatment and advice are then given for comfort and well-being.
A baby-only appointment usually lasts 45–60 minutes, while a combined mother & baby visit lasts 60–90 minutes, allowing time for feeding breaks, nappy changes, and settling.
Just a comfortable space for you and your baby. Your osteopath will guide you if anything else is needed, such as feeding pillows or advice on safe sleep positioning.
No. Osteopathy can support comfort and function, but it does not replace GP, midwife or health visitor care. If a medical concern is identified, we will advise you to contact your healthcare provider.
Yes. Parents and caregivers are welcome to be present throughout the assessment and treatment. This often helps babies feel more relaxed and supported.
Paediatric osteopathy is very gentle. Some babies may fuss briefly due to tiredness, hunger, or being handled, but the techniques themselves are not painful or forceful.
Home visits offer convenience and comfort, especially for those with mobility issues or busy schedules. We also provide a personalised approach to care and can be more flexible in addressing individual needs.
Every baby is different. Some respond after one session, while others benefit from a short course of treatment. Your osteopath will guide you based on your baby’s needs and presentation.
