It’s a health assessment designed to confirm you are medically fit to work in the physically demanding and safety-critical environment of wind turbines, both on land and at sea.
No – both onshore and offshore workers complete the Chester Step Test as part of their assessment. Offshore roles may, however, place greater emphasis on aerobic fitness due to more isolated working conditions.
Most workers require a medical every 2 years, but this may be annual if you have certain health conditions, or if your employer or role requires closer monitoring.
Your appointment lasts 60 minutes, including the Chester Step Test and all occupational health checks.
Photo ID, details of any medications, and your glasses (not contact lenses). Your application form will already have been completed online when you booked. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended for the fitness test.
If an issue is identified, we’ll discuss it with you and suggest further tests or treatment. Many conditions don’t mean an automatic fail – they just need management and review.
A basic hearing check is included. Full audiometry will only be performed if hearing loss is suspected or identified on initial examination.
Yes, we can accommodate group bookings for companies, with certificates issued promptly.
The fee is £300, which includes the Chester Step Test and a same-day fitness certificate.
In most cases, certificates are issued on the day of your medical. If additional investigations are required, we’ll let you know and provide a clear timeline.
