PCOS Profile

The blood test profile will help you understand if symptoms like irregular periods, acne, difficulty getting pregnant, or excess body hair might be caused by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

The test will check if you have high testosterone levels – one of the main features of PCOS. If they’re high, and you have either irregular periods or an ultrasound scan confirming polycystic ovaries, you can make a PCOS diagnosis.

We also check for other female hormones that may be out of balance in PCOS and for diabetes (PCOS is associated with insulin resistance). We also check for vitamin D deficiency – common with PCOS. Your cholesterol profile may be affected by PCOS too. Lastly, we check your thyroid function as an imbalance there can mimic the symptoms of PCOS.

Post Birth Profile

During pregnancy, your body requires a higher amount of certain nutrients – like vitamin D and folate. Blood loss from birth can sometimes also cause a drop in your iron levels. And if you’re breastfeeding, your requirements for certain nutrients also increase.

Because of these extra demands on your body, your risk of developing a nutritional deficiency can increase.

This test profile measures a range of nutrients that are important to focus on after birth. It can tell you if you have optimal levels of some of the nutrients that:

  • Help you recover from birth
  • Support your energy levels
  • Promote better sleep

The following tests are included:

  • Full Blood Count
  • Ferritin
  • Vitamin B12
  • Vitamin B9
  • Vitamin D
  • Omega-3 and omega-6
