Media Coverage: The Health Suite Among First in UK to Offer Galleri® Test
The Health Suite, a private doctor-led medical and wellness centre in Leicester, has been featured in media coverage after becoming one of the first private healthcare providers in the UK to offer the Galleri® multi-cancer early detection blood test.
The coverage highlights the clinic’s move to make the test available to patients following the publication of early results from the NHS-Galleri® trial, one of the largest studies of its kind.
The Galleri® test uses a single blood sample to look for signals associated with more than 50 types of cancer, including cancers that currently have no routine NHS screening programme.
Dr Dominic Greenyer, GP and Director at The Health Suite, explained why the clinic decided to offer the test:
“Patients are looking for more proactive means to screen for cancer, above the four main ones already covered. People are increasingly taking more interest in their health and are keen to access any information that can highlight potential issues well ahead of time.”
He added:
“What the Galleri® test offers is a chance to find a signal before symptoms appear. That is a meaningful shift in what we can offer patients, and it’s why we wanted to make it available to patients.”
The coverage also emphasised that the Galleri® test is designed to complement, rather than replace, existing NHS cancer screening programmes.
Dr Greenyer stressed the importance of patients understanding the limitations of the test before proceeding:
“This sits alongside cervical, breast and bowel screening – not instead of it.”
He continued:
“A negative Galleri® result does not mean you don’t have cancer, and every positive result needs proper diagnostic follow-up.”
Dr Greenyer also highlighted the importance of informed consent, explaining that patients are given clear information about what the test can and cannot tell them before having the blood sample taken.
The Health Suite is currently offering the test to adults aged 50 and over, as well as younger patients who may have an elevated personal or family risk.
