Sleep Apnoea Testing and Treatment in Leicester
Sleep apnoea testing and treatment, with expert assessment, accurate home sleep studies and personalised CPAP support — all without a GP referral.
What Is Sleep Apnoea?
Sleep apnoea is a common respiratory condition where your breathing repeatedly stops and starts while you sleep. The most prevalent form is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), which occurs when the muscles and soft tissues at the back of your throat relax excessively, temporarily collapsing and blocking your airway.
During an apnoea event, your brain briefly wakes you up—often with a loud snort, gasp, or choke—to reopen the airway. Because these micro-arousals can happen dozens or even hundreds of times an hour, they severely disrupt your deep sleep cycles and drop your blood oxygen levels, often without you fully realising it.
Common Symptoms
| Nighttime Symptoms | Daytime Symptoms |
|---|---|
| Loud, persistent snoring: Often interrupted by silent pauses in breathing. | Excessive daytime sleepiness: Feeling exhausted despite spending enough hours in bed. |
| Choking or gasping: Waking up suddenly feeling short of breath. | Unrefreshing sleep: Waking up feeling drained or sluggish. |
| Restless sleep: Frequent tossing, turning, or night sweats. | Morning headaches & dry mouth: Caused by nighttime oxygen dips and mouth-breathing. |
| Frequent nighttime urination: Waking up multiple times to pass urine (nocturia). | Brain fog & poor focus: Difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, or mood changes. |
A proper diagnostic sleep study, fitted at the clinic and scored by hand rather than left to software. Results in five working days. No referral needed.
Should you be tested?
Testing is worth considering if two or more apply:
- Loud or habitual snoring
- Witnessed pauses in breathing, gasping or choking in your sleep
- Waking unrefreshed, however long you sleep
- Daytime sleepiness or persistent tiredness
- Waking with a headache
- Getting up to pass urine more than once most nights
The free sleep check works this out for you in two minutes.
The test we use
The Nox T3s, a level 3 respiratory polygraph. It records eight channels, including two effort belts, airflow, oxygen levels, pulse, body position and sound.
That matters. Several home tests sold online record far fewer channels and are described by their own manufacturers as screening devices rather than diagnostic ones.
CPAP
We prescribe and set up your treatment. Mask fit is the biggest single factor in whether CPAP works for you, so we size and fit it here and write the exact model and size on your prescription
Prices
- All prices are appointment fees. This excludes the cost of any CPAP devices or accessories. No machine, mask, humidifier, tubing or consumables are included in any of them. You buy your own equipment, and we tell you exactly what to buy
- A second night, if the first is inconclusive: £200
- With a written referral from a GP or consultant, you can book the study directly, without the consultation. Same £495
Who we cannot see
Under 16s. Anyone using home oxygen, a home ventilator, BiPAP or NIV. Suspected narcolepsy. Neuromuscular disease. Anyone breathless at rest. Pregnancy. Insomnia as the main problem.
The free sleep check screens for all of these and tells you before you book anything.

How it works
Consultation
We send you a questionnaire to complete before you come in, so the appointment is spent on the assessment rather than on paperwork. Sleep history, sleepiness scoring, and examination. We decide together whether a sleep study is the right test. Sometimes it is not, and we will say so.
Home Sleep Study
You come in during the afternoon and we fit the device and show you how to use it. You sleep in your own bed. You drop it back the next morning.
Results
Your recording is reviewed and scored by hand rather than left to automatic software, and reported in full by the practitioner who fitted it. Report within five working days, then a results consultation to go through it.
Treatment, if needed
For moderate or severe sleep apnoea that usually means CPAP. We prescribe it, specify the machine and mask, fit the mask and follow you up.

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)
We diagnose and manage mild, moderate, and severe Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Using clinical-grade home polygraphy and personalised CPAP prescriptions, we help restore uninterrupted breathing, safeguard oxygen levels, and protect your long-term cardiovascular health.
Sleep-Disordered Breathing & Upper Airway Resistance
We assess upper airway resistance, chronic heavy snoring, and transient nighttime oxygen drops. By identifying partial airway blockages during sleep, we provide targeted solutions to prevent breathing pauses and stop disruptive nighttime gasping.
CPAP Intolerance & Poor Mask Fitting

Sleep-Related Daytime Fatigue
Unrefreshing sleep, morning headaches, and constant daytime tiredness often stem from hidden sleep apnoea. We pinpoint underlying respiratory causes to eliminate daytime brain fog and restore your energy, focus, and overall quality of life.

Do you snore loudly or wake up gasping, choking, or snorting?
Frequent pauses in breathing or loud gasping are classic indicators that your upper airway is collapsing during sleep, cutting off oxygen flow.
Do you wake up feeling unrefreshed, regardless of how many hours you slept?
Poor sleep quality caused by micro-arousals throughout the night prevents your body from reaching deep, restorative sleep stages.
Do you experience excessive daytime sleepiness or persistent brain fog?
Struggling to stay awake while reading, watching TV, sitting in meetings, or driving can signal significant nighttime oxygen deprivation.
Do you regularly wake up with a dull morning headache or dry mouth?
Morning headaches often result from nighttime oxygen dips and carbon dioxide retention, while dry mouth usually indicates heavy mouth-breathing.
Do you get up to pass urine more than once or twice most nights?
Frequent nighttime urination (nocturia) is a common, overlooked sign of sleep apnoea caused by heart stress during airway blockages.
Has a partner noticed you stop breathing periodically while sleeping?
Witnessed apnoea events reported by bed partners are among the strongest indicators that a formal diagnostic sleep study is necessary.
